Re: Old and New
My wife sez..."CUUUUTE!!! They look kind of similar!"
I sez..."Similar?!! You mean they both have red tail lights, and four round tires?"
She sez, "No, the colors are similar!"
I sez, "Yeah, I think Roy liked the color...it was a prime selling point." I agree...DSOM is my second favorite color. That 55 better watch out; it's about as useful to have around now as a dog that bites.- Top

Re: Old and New
Roy,
Well it's 10F here with snow so I can't do that kind of pic. But that is a lovely C6. Very, very nice. I have been thinking of going Corvette modern and may take the plunge this summer for a modestly used C6. I can't keep two of them, however, so the 1967 will have to go. That will tug at my heart-strings as I am sure it did at yours. But time moves on.

I was thinking the same thing
You can now buy a brand new ZO6 that will run circles around the old L88's, have AC, power steering, CD, etc. and still get 26+ MPG on the highway - and be reliable to drive to work every day. I guess that's why I finally sold my L88!

Re: Old and New
I know what you mean Roy about how sweet the new ones are but I still enjoy driving the older ones a whole bunch too.
What the lack in power and comfort, they make up in looks, stares and comments

Re: Old and New
Bob, You hit it on the head! The older Vettes have the one thing the new ones do not (at least for another 30 years!) and that's the combination of timeless and daring styling, head turning presence and that undefineable visceral experience behind the wheel. Time has given them provenance and, dare I say, gravitas.

Re: Old and New
Try taking your new vette to a car show. People walk by it and only look at the old ones. New ones are a dime a dozen and no one wants to see them. The new ones are good if you belong to a corvette dinner club. If you belong to ncrs the older ones are the ones they want to talk about. I suppose you would throw out the old girl and get a new 19 year old blonde.- Top

Re: Old and New
Don, It's funny how the circle of life goes. Back in 1971, when I went to my first Corvette club meeting, I was branded a "newbie" or boulevard cruiser because I had a "late model" Vette. It was a '69 coupe! Most of the members then owned mid years or C1's ( with a few '53, '54's!)and raced and rallyed them. Point being that what was a "late model" 35 years ago is a classic today, and so the beat goes on.
