Is it permitted for you guys to recommend a redline tire brand/supplier? Since they're kind of pricey, I don't want to hear "You bought that brand? They're junk." Does anyone sell a 215 instead of a 205, and is this a good idea? Thanks.

Re: C2 redline tires
Hi Larry:
Sorry, but I am only knowledgeable about the reproduction bias ply redlines that would be used for judging. These are NOT good tires for everyday driving.
I have seen other postings here on the tech board regarding redline radials for driving. You could probably find those postings in the achives by searching on the words "redline" and "radial," or perhaps "red," "line" and "radial."
I believe there is at least one company that make redline radial tires. Also, there is a company called Diamondback that takes standard commercial radial tires and applies a redline sidewall to them. You could probably find them on the internet or by searching the archives.- Top

Re: C2 redline tires
Driver redlines, goldines etc - I would strongly urge you to visit with Diamond back Tire - they smooth the sidewall of a modern day radial tire, and apply the [correct width] redline or goldline [or blueline even] as you direct.
215/70R15 here, in Goldline, from Diamond Back.

Re: C2 redline tires
Larry,
I'm happy with my Coker Classics in 205/75R15 for highway driving on my 67. They make them in redline and goldline. They are M&S and are like the old Michelin X's.
They tell me they are not the best for handling but I'm not into slalom runs, and can't tell the difference. They are slightly larger than the 775 stock tire, and I have found a 2.3% correction to speedometer and odometer readings based upon actual highway mileage by post mile markers. My speedometer and odometer will read slower and less mileage by that percent.
For the price, they are a good driver tire and look good on a C2. However, if you judge with them they are a standard deduct on originality of 75%, that's 24 points.
