    Joe,

Do you think it needs to be rebuilt to be operable?
At least, anything other than the fuel unit?

      Patrick

I sent an otherwise beautiful unrestored original 4520 FI unit to Jerry Bramlett..and upon disassembly..he showed me how the aluminum corrodes on the inside which requires reconditioning.

The motor itself I suspect would start right up with some precautionary measures. The oil is clean and it turned over before I pulled it out. The water pump makes a funny sound..so there must be some corrosion.

The original unrestored 4360 FI unit is still on the engine..these units were bad for leaking fuel into the cylinders causing hydro lock and blown engines.

        OK.

I look forward to seeing it in about 3 months.

          cast iron 4 speeds

those things were heavy as i helped install one in a 57 vette. the car was to be shipped with a 4 speed BUT it showed up at the dealers with a 3 speed. GM shipped the tranny in in a big wooden box with rope handles on each end. i do not remember if the dealer had to ship the 3 speed back or not as that was a lot of lost brain cells ago. i remember the box better than the tranny
