    C2 Door Panel Chrome Screws

Would like to replace the chrome screws that hold my 64 door panels on, however the repro's are not correct. The orignal ones (#9417987) appear to have a head size of 5/16 (.306) and lenght of .875.

While the repro's are smaller with a head size of .260 (a #6 metic?) and lenght of .775 The repro's also come with the cone shaped washer attached which I believe is not correct and therefore would need to be removed if they were to be used.

Anyone know a source for correct 5/16 chrome screws?

    Thanks
    Alan

The factory used number 8 screws with a number 6 head. This has a special name which I can't remember. Speciality fastner places usually carry these.

My original chrome door screws are #8 head & screw. The repro's from LI are the #6 head with #8 screw shaft, (also has the chrome cone washer attached) With a little luck somebody can look up the pn and it may have a spec with it (I do not a any ref material on these).

Appears we may have some disagreements on these screws. SOoo, all I can say for sure is that these scews have been on my car since the spring of 1966. Now people have made the point before that the original owner (Mar64 - Apr66) could have changed all twenty chrome screws with 20 new chrome #8 screws, but . . .

Another point, the 64 door panel (and the few 63 ones I have seen) uses the chrome cone washer (not correct name) to secure the vinyl to the cardboard backing. Said cone is a #8 size! The cone on the repro screws are #6.

What do the door panel repro dealers do? We may have two different door panels.

Shades of the 63/64 SHP star washer on fuel filter bracket.

These screws were never a SERVICE-available part and, in this particular case, I can't otherwise find any information on them.
