70 Battery Cable Replacement (+)

The transmission is out and what was left of the heat shielding is removed, but I can’t get enough access to the hole to seat the positive battery cable grommet. The only way I can see to get more access is to remove the carrier. That would be awfully extreme, and then would only allow me to wedge another hand into the area. Everything is liberally coated with Vaseline. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks, Jeph

Jeph, try a heat lamp to soften the grommet and make it more pliable. The plant generally used a soap solution for lubricant

After being heated, it was almost too easy! Thanks. I wish I had tried that in the beginning.
