Re: BG 2007...shoulda done the Road Tour
Every year, we route the Road Tour down Main Street to Rt. 47. About 1 mile east of 47 there's a farm, where the Fox Valley Corvette Club parties at during the Road Tour. We have people slow down, stop, and give 'er hell. There's an inch of rubber for the 500 or so feet on the pavement in front of this farm. I got pics to prove it....and only ONE solid axle or unmodded midyear even made an attempt. But the C3,C4,5,6, and ZO6 folks tore it up. Say what you want about those cars, but at least those folks made an impressive showing. Believe me, we had the parts to fix just about ANY breakdown...what killed me were the folks that had no clue at all how to roast the tires, and here they are driving a car with 385+ horses. BTW, the white/silver cove '57 270 horse that led the parade was the ONE solid axle that lit them up....with a fresh body off just completed. And the Anderson Road Drags were at a minimum this year, but there were a couple.....I lost.- Top

Re: BG 2007
Geoffrey,
I noticed your mention of your pleasant conversation with Dick Guldstrand.
I had the opportunity to talk with him at BG two years ago. I was able to tell him about a Bocar (1959?) I had seen the week before at a little car show in Glen Arbor, Michigan. The car seemed in great condition for an old race car. He smiled and said yes he remembered them well, and I could probably go to many more local shows before I'd see another one. I had seen the old racer heading North towards Leland later in the afternoon and two-lane Rt.22 seemed perfect for it. He smiled again and said how terrific it was that it was getting used appropriatly.
It was a few minutes I remember well.

Re: BG 2007
Doc,
Did you make it to the Gold Year Parking for the 57's out on the grass? There were a number of nice 57's, including the one that lead the parade; then there was my old driver. Park City 2005.

Re: BG 2007
Verle,
Sorry I missed that. Hopefully Carlisle will repeat the 1957 salute. I know where they hold it at Carlisle. But Pheasant Run Golf Resort has no real detailed map locating all the Corvette activities - or I missed that also. There was so much grass, I never saw what hole or green we were on. But it was well watered and manicured; however if Immigration & Naturalization were near near that may have been different. Very few of the Golf Resort staff could understand my questions and smiled nicely, however the BG staff were very helpful.

Re: I am relieved
Denny, did ya see the video Fran shot out front of Harley's? I got my copies yesterday....gets monotonous watching nearly 600 cars try to do burnouts, but some of it is pretty funny....'specially the background chatter.- Top
