64 voltage regulator mounting ?

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how my voltage regultor on my 64 300 HP is mounted to the firewall. Yes I know it's mounted with three screws but its the small rubber coated bolts that I am stumped on. Do these mount through the firewall and as you tighten the screw it expands to hold it or do they attach from the opposite side? Truly a picture would be worth a thousand words for me here if anyone can help.

Can you provide a picture of how it looks? Well nuts are a bit different than what the AIM show's.

The drawing in my 64 AIM, Sect 6, Sheet B4.00, Item 2 Nut shows what I would expect a "well nut" to look like. In the 1953-1972 Corvette Parts Catalog the Nut is in G/N 2.500, p/n 3876130 and is listed as folows:

64-72 Corvette, NUT, w/ grommet regulator (No. 10-24).

The ones I have in my parts department read

WELLNUT-PAT - L-1024.
