Well in the process of the restoration of my '58 indications are it appears to have had a rough life (or maybe it's rear end problems are more common than I think). A few of questions for the board. Does anyone make the spring perches for the rear end? Are they supposed to be curved to match the arch of the rear springs? Anyone out there have a vette posi housing they're willing to turn loose of?
The perches on mine are curved but it doesn't look like they're bent, there are cracks in the welds, and the locating pin holes are are egg shaped rather than round which I assume is wear. At some point they had tighted the U bolts enough to make divits in the housing. You could even feel them on the inside of the axle tubes.
Thanks,
Ted
