Yeah, I remember those OLD big blocks. They were introduced as an option on the brand spanking new '58 Chevy Impala; 348 cubic inches with three two barrel carbs. I think they called it the "W" block. If you can believe it, the Mark IV superceded it because the Mark IV was LIGHTER, as well as, easier and cheaper to build.
GM never tried 'em in Corvettes; guess they figured they would have to put tank treads on Vettes to keep from splayin' out the front wheels. Hee, Hee
