1959 C1 Borg Warner Trans

Can anyone provide some insight on my transmission and whether it's correct for the car? My Vette was build around July 2nd 1959. The transmission Main Cast is a T10-1B dtd WF1992, Side Cover plate is a 59 Style according to judging manual but I haven't taken the cover off to see the date (assuming it correct) and the tail housing is a T10-7A dtd 3 9 59 M. I've been told that the transmissions are only judged for correct type. Is that correct? Does this transmission pass the test for my car.

I would say your transmission will pass...

If anyone looks hard enough to see the casting ID, the '59 is a T10-1 case. Yours is a 1961 case.

Is the case aluminum or iron?

How can I tell it's a 61 case, It is stamped dtd June 19 1959 2nd shift on the cast iron case itself. I was told that the T10-1B cases ran all the way through late 1959.

Ray, The case is cast iron. Correct for this year and date.
