Re: i guess i will not be posting after dec 31 200
I was actually surprised a few years ago to find out that you did not have to be a member of NCRS to post on this DB. When I found that out I started looking at profiles and did see some people that were or are non members.
I don't think it is asking too much of an individual to pay up in today's world. I mean after all most of us are senior citizens that by this stage of our long life can at least afford the $35.00.
That misely sum doesn't go far today. Yesterday I went to Sheetz and put $50.00 worth of fuel in my GMC and the gas gauge only showed 1/2 full. Went to dinner tonight with a friend and that was $40.00 plus tips. No cocktails either.
SO I am missing the point some say. It's not the money it's the principal. Well to that I say it's only good business. Running a club is running a business. Just today I found out that our Pittsburgh Chapter is going to invest in a new web site. It's not cheap. This DB cost money to run.
No I will have to say I am in favor of the new rule. Not kissing up cause I don't have to. Not my style. On the other hand if there are individuals out there that are down and out and can't afford to pay up then I say that some of us would be more than happy to help them out.
But if an individual has the means and just decides he or she doesn't want to pay because they don't think it is just then I for one say won't fly.
If you wanna play you gotta pay. That's it. I've been paying for almost 30 years now. I would be lost without you guys and girls. Need you all as friends. Don't mind paying and would pay a whole lot more.
I wonder who many Corvettes and other expensive toys are sitting in various garages of people who don't want to pay. While I am in the mood let me say that what has always rubbed me the wrong way is that in my own chapter there are individuals that constantly bitch because we charge this for a picnic or we charge that for a function. Now these individuals aren't poor. Most of our members have more than one Corvette.
So you have my opinion. Pay up and enjoy life. After all most of us are getting SS checks now. How much time do we have left? John DeGregory #2855.
