    Ease Up On Him...

Denny, in fairness to Clem, he never "declared war" to need to make peace...He simply stated the facts as recorded in the Board meeting minutes and his position on this change. Others of us started the rancor and separated into camps expressing our preferences; it won't be the first time a percentage of the governed have been uphappy with change. It's a free country and Clem gets to make his own decisions...while most of us will hate to lose Clem and a few others from the TDB, that's what freedom of choice is all about.

Do you actually know of NCRS judges leaving the TDB over this rule change/discussion?...I would find that hard to believe. I wouldn't think you would have to worry about judges jumping this ship. If you're a judge in the NCRS, you've been in this organization for years, and you have never let $35 dues get in your way of being a member...more likely you wonder why everyone that loves the old Corvettes is not a member. Those of us that are judges are typically concerned with the whole car, where Clem's posts are helpful primarily with history and tips for unusual engine problems.

What Clem does with his personal time is really his business. There was talk earlier about us being "old" and "dying"...Dennis correctly pointed out that we're ALL dying; if you're younger, you just have further to go before it happens. When we die, our contributions will also die unless they have been recorded...anyone that gets the idea that the world can't live without their contribution is sadly mistaken.

Re: Denny, Re-do the math and include the...

"Formed in 1974, the National Corvette Restorers Society is a non-profit hobby group of 15,000+ families dedicated to the restoration, preservation, history and enjoyment of Corvettes made from the model years 1953 through 1993."

On the subject of priorities, suggesting policy changes that discourage "enjoyment of Corvettes", at first blush, seems contradictory. Does the above quoted vision statement imply "at the exclusion of all others"?????????

      Three questions come to mind.
      1. Please help me understand how the proposed exclusionary policy change supports the vision statement.
      2. Exactly how much DOES it cost to maintain this board?
      3. How big of a capital reserve can an organization carry and still qualify for non-profit status? Loss of same can be cumbersome.

It took courage for Clem to express his views. Does anyone for a moment think he did not know that his opinion "MIGHT" be unpopular? What's that old express - if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.

Get no benefits! Who are you kidding?
          1. You don't enjoy passing on your knowledge to those of us who need it?
          2. You must be one smart cookie if you need no info.
          3. So what now, your done? You've done your part? Must be nice to feel your work is done here. You will be missed, but as they say rules are rules.
          Just my old 2 cents.

Clem, you can leave if you want to but.......

make sure Mrs. clem knows she is welcome here anytime. She's the one with all the right answers anyway. . Whether or not one is a paying member doesn't matter to me. If we can pick someones brain so we all are a little smarter is what this discussion board is all about to me. I also enjoy the comradery and Clem you are a part of that. A good story and a zing here and there is what keeps the fans smiling.

You sir, appear to be the epitome of why I let my dues lapse. If you think Clem (or anyone else with that much experiance should be made to pay/participate to volunteer thier wisdom I would agree with Clem and stop volunteering. Its like someone asking me to take my car/ motorcycle/ (insert item here) to display for the publics enjopyment and then charging me to do so. I don't think so!!! I can't stop Clem or Roy (or anyone else for that matter) from leaving but I do think it will be a tremendous loss. I am no longer a member, whoever I read this board every day and post if I can help. John

I asked the same question, no one answered it...

Specifically, #2. How much does it cost to maintain this board- not the whole site, just this part of it. I have a clue, because I am the webmaster for several sites. Hint- not much.
