throw out bearing in a c3

can some one give me the correct length of the throw out bearing in a 71 big block, along with the correct length of the ball stud? I am replacing the centerforce clutch that is in the car, and i am at the end of the adjusting rod and wonder if i have the wrong length throw out bearing or wrong ball stud

Did you install the throwout bearing on the clutch arm correctly? It should be in the groove... not clipped to it. Been there done that!!!

If you have the flywheel cleaned up I think you lose adjustment. I was using local auto parts store parts and the second complete set was fine. The first one was just like yours the rod was too short. If their is a way to measure the old and new parts and know what the results will be I would like to know.

The original clutch release bearing for a 1971 was 1-7/32" long. That bearing was discontinued from SERVICE more than 25 years ago and replaced by a 1-1/4" long bearing.

The original clutch fork ball stud for a 1971 was 1-3/8" long. That stud was discontinued from SERVICE about 20 years ago and replaced by a stud 1-1/2" long.

You will not find a 1-7/32" bearing or a 1-3/8" stud in reproduction or in the aftermarket. The 1-1/4" bearing and the 1-1/2" stud will work fine for your application.

The flat at the end of the stud is there to create as a small "reservoir" to maintain some grease between the stud and its mating depression in the fork.
