      Re: Barrett-Jackson ??

I KNOW for a fact what my ol' H.S. WAS. Car was bought for $600.00, (58 Dual quad car 270 Hp) which we sold in 74. The old Vette's now a Duntov Award Car. Recieved in early 90's. Now in Conn. Its now a 283/230hp. I asked the guy in "95" where the org. engine was. He said THIS is the org. engine. My ol' man took off the duals sold for $50.00 in 72. To get better gas mileage. SHREWD. The potential problems are enormous. Sellers and Buyers best be clear regarding is it org. or memorex type engine.

Clem, they were already planning to do a Fall

auction in Las Vegas; a local "investigative reporter" (read: person not allowed to leave the building without a keeper) took this as a substitute and the next thing you know, Scottsdale gave Craig what he wanted.
I am NOT sure that you want to go swimming with this school of fish; no, scratch that, you do NOT want to swim in this pond in this manner.

          "Don't Want My Information Sold"

As I understand it NCRS (FOR $300 FEE) is to sell information to a prospective buyer of a Corvette as to NCRS judging information it has accumulated at meets.
Well......Questions: Do I get contacted first for permission to disclose/sell my cars information? Can anybody buy this information? Even if I do not have my car for sale? Is this not like selling personel information? The scores and judging sheet deductions up till a few days ago were not open for disclosure to anybody. Current owners specific VIN # corvette have a right to privacy. And selling information tied to that VIN violates that privacy.

I'm sure NCRS will have more information short comming and not allow the above mention concerns to become issues to current owners of NCRS involved cars. But the abridged issued artical on the topic leaves a lot unexplained and has me concerned.

Re: "Don't Want My Information Sold"

Gene, I truly agree with you. We guard our S.S. no.s, we worry about Identity theft and medically we have HIPA laws to protect our rights to privacy. Why would I want someone to know about my garage holdings without giving permission? I own the car, it is my car,it does not belong to any grp. of people that can sell my information. At least without consent. I may even charge about $300 to get it.

Re: "Don't Want My Information Sold"

I know the Camaro guys protect there numbers even thought there is an extensive database and could do the same thing for Camaro buyers. And the Camaro guys have ALL the VIN's of real cars in there database.

Re: "Don't Want My Information Sold"

Wouldn't it be best to have the car judged there at the BJ auction? That way any parts removed from the car since it's last awards would become evident. Then though I would certainly hate to be the judge, without a set of disclaimers as long as your arm. Anyone who would pay "blue chip" money, for a car and then find that the judge missed something, would sound like a law suit to me.

                      Re: "NCRS BJ News Release"

This service will provide a confirmation document with a complete listing from the NCRS database of the available award statistics for a specific Corvette. The presence of this (confirmation) document will assure the (to potential new owner) of the NCRS judging history on a Corvette.

Oh! BOY any one with any smarts knows that the day of any award is good only for that day! And still doesn't guaranty a %100 correct Corvette. I've seen top flight's that should have been second flight, I wish NCRS the best BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many know of a Corvette getting a T.F only later at a different meet get a second flight? I have!

                        Re: "NCRS BJ News Release"

It is stated in the Barrett-Jackson/NCRS Press Release :
"NCRS will have a qualified staff of members from across the country available to answer questions about restoring and preserving the Corvette, and the NCRS organization. "
What portion of the $300 fees will be used to compensate "these qualified staff members" ? I know that's not what we're in it for but then again BJ is not a non-profit hobby group either. Sure sparks my interest in becoming a Judge.

                          I think...

they're there on a volunteer basis in a role that's the same as the NCRS 'booth' presense at Carlisle and Bloomington. I'll further guess the purpose is to answer 'general' not specific car questions or to judge/verify a given car and to 'drum' memembership for NCRS by selling merchandise and explaining the club's role + involvement with the Corvette restoration/preservation hobby...

Being involved with BJ to any further extent could violate/endanger the NPO status of NCRS as a corporation. As an NPO, you can't have 'political voice' or 'joint venture' with other organizations that generate for profit revenue streams without risking IRS decertification of your NPO status...

I think we're making WAY too much of this deal!
