Looks real at this resolution. Macro is always better.

I am no expert but from that angle the engine stamp actually looks too good. I just haven't seen enough pads to know whether the engine stamps are that crisp.

How about a virgin pad with "fresh"(new) stamping equipment, just my guess?

Yet another stupid question FROM ME.

I'm sure everybody else knows the answer, but I've never seen a "V" before.

I thought the stamping looked a little too perfect also, but maybe it's just combination of a real good cleaning and the digital photo.

            Norris -

"V" was the prefix for the Flint V-8 plant beginning with the '67 model year; from '55-'66, it was "F".

The pad looks like it was painted silver recently, just my opinion. PT

Bob, It's a beautiful stamp. Nice broach marks. Could use a little aging though. Not saying it is a resto pad but it does look like an artist rendition. Museum quality. Again I am not an expert on pads. Maybe show it to Al Grenning, etc. JD

I think the pad looks like it was just stamped. Go to www.c2registry.org they have several photos of stamp pads. None of the examples they have are as deep or sharp as this one. It looks like a restamp to me.

It's pretty easy to for me to offer an opinion after reading the responses from these guys who are much smarter than me. My first thought on this stamp mirrors John's thought. A very perfect example, and maybe just too perfect for my liking. I'd go with resto stamp on this one.

I'm with the something is up with this pad crowd. Unless this is some car with 0 miles and sitting in a collection and that's the way a brand new stamp without being exposed to the elements looked. I'd say everything is to perfect for a factory stamp.

I don't believe a stamp that nice ever existed in a production environment!

One question about judging a pad that looks this good. If this was a virgin pad and a "GOOD" stamper restamped it correctly, how would the judges judge this. Would they deduct points for being to good, even though it may have come from the factory like this? Thanks in advance.

the guy on the engine line must have had all new stamps that day because any that have been used start to "round" off the sharp edges after the first hit. nice job but maybe he should have found some used stamps.

If you ask Al Grenning don't you have to pay for an answer....not that there's anything wrong with that !!!
