    Sander,

Why didn't you just have the car plastic media blasted? I have done 3 C1's this way and they have come back absolutely great. They even get the underside and interior areas for about $1,200.

Is there a reason you wouldn't do this on a C2? My blaster has done several and he says it will be no problem on my '65.

    Regards.

Curious question on the media stripping. What do you do about an engine in the engine bay? Wrap it in plastic? I am doing a mechanical restoration now, with the idea of maybe repainting the car in a few years.

I planned on having mine media blasted, but the guy who's doing the paint and body work told me not to. He said that he's often seen them go too deep and also that media blasting will dull the sharp edges on the body. How did yours turn out?

I'm not sure there is an abundance of Media Blasters in the Netherlands.

Unless you can see previous work done, I'd stay away from blasting a 57. The early glass is very brittle and does not blast well, even with different types of media. You don't want to have to chase pin holes forever. Pain in the rear!
Blasted a 53 with baking soda. Not a good idea. Blasted a 56 trunk lid also. Not a good idea. Used regyular top coat Captain Lees on the rest of the 56 and had excellent results. Messy, but can be done on a Saturday. Just wash the rest of the car with a 3M scuff pad and lacquer thinner to get the residue and primer off.
