i had a K/O spinner leave a 64 vette on I-95 near Jacksonville Fla on our first trip to the Cypress Regional in early 80"s. rear quarter kept tire/wheel from leaving the coupe. hairy experience. after that , i beat the hell out of the spinners on installation. mike

Hmmm, so it CAN happen on the C2's. Which one came off? Are they right and left threads like the Jags, ie are the right sides LH thread?

rightr rear spinner came off. prior to the trip, i'd had the spinners re-chromed then made the stupid mistake in LUBRICATING the threads. i don't lub them anymore. mike

KO spinners (when the adapters are correctly installed) have RH threads on the driver's side and LH threads on the passenger side.

Hi John,

That certainly makes sense. So it sounds like if they're removed, they must be oriented back to the correct side or a disaster could happen.

In the real world, I don't think it makes any difference. The only thing that puts any force on the spinner/wheel interface is acceleration or braking IF the drive pin holes in the wheel are "egged out", allowing relative motion between the pins and the wheel. Just whack 'em good, put a Sharpie mark on them for visual check/reference, and drive on.

Ted, Good questions. I have a very original 62 which will hit the streets of judging in about a year and already I'm seeing many differences between it and the JG also. Oh what to do? I am going to have my 59 judged this January and would like to have fun in the process. I'll stay open minded but it could get pretty stressful at the same time. My spinners already point to the stems. Roy, don't get stressed about this. It goes along with so many things that can be different about these cars as we all know.

So....judges, what should we do? And how do we notify those not on the forum?
