Delco carburetor kit

I came across a power carburetor kit with 7039222 and 1#9222 on the package. Is this the right kit for a 7041205 carburetor? Also this kit has never been out of the package, do you think it is still good to use on a rebuild?

Yes, the GM #7039222 kit is applicable to the GM #7041205 carb. Most likely, most, if not all, of the components of the kit will be fine. I would check any paper or cork gaskets for signs of drying out and becoming brittle, though. I think they will be ok, however.

the problem with these older kits is the pump diaphragm material is not compatible with the newer gasoline blends containing alcohol.

Yes, I can see how that could be a problem; I should have thought of that. Also, the other gaskets in the set might also be less resistant to modern fuel blends. So, that's a good reason to forget about NOS carb rebuild kits and just buy a modern, up-to-date kit (Borg-Warner or other brand).

you need viton accelerator pump diaphragms and if the one in the kit is black it will hardened with these new fuels.

When you say NEW FUELS your talking about a ethanol based fuel? Are you talking about something else?

most gasolines have 10% ethanol now to help with emissions or octane rating

i have a Qjet carb here now that the black pump cup is as hard as a lump of coal. it broke into several pieces when i tried to remove it.
