    Rob,

Nice to see your new addition. If I can help you in any way, please ask.
I collected parts for about 12 years for my '54 #1362.

        Rob-

Congrats on the car. Looks great. I had a blast restoring my 54 - you will find 54s very easy to work on.

In the most recent SACC quarterly newsletter, Alan Blay discusses engine pad stampings beginning with 060xx. Alan says that 060xx appeared between 1954 serial #2500 and #3200, and were a bit out of sequence compared to earlier and later cars

My 54 was serial #3279 and the engine pad was stamped 06014 31 F54YG. Alan's serial # 25xx car had an engine pad stamp of 06017. I think that means Alan's engine was stamped 3 engines after mine. And your engine would be 8 engines after mine. Alan's engine and my engine both carry a casting date of May 3, 1954. I suspect your engine will have the same casting date.

The tach rev counter can be converted into miles. I usually divide the number of revs by 3.3 That would put you a bit over 50k miles. Dividing by 3.3 is not a hard and fast rule, however. I recall seeing a study from years ago, where the revs to miles typically fell between 4 to 1 and 3 to 1. I think 3.3 to 1 was about the average.

Thus, if your tach is hooked up and still working, and your odometer reflects 45k to 55k miles or so, I think you could say that the odometer reflected the original miles on the car.

        Have fun with the car,

        Russ

That works out just fine, the odo meter currently reads 48,548 miles so that is well between the 45-50k range...

I don't know about the engine casting date yet but so far all worked out pretty good.

thanks for this info & greetings,
                rob.

I didnj't bid. I just thought that it would make a pretty good car to restore.
                    Nice find! Have fun Rob!
