My 85's original alternator needed new bearings, took it to a local shop where the owner does most of the work on alternators and starters. I could go on about how much work he put into this alternator to remove the front bearing that was very difficult to remove, he let me observe while I waited. Only charged me $20.00 for the new bearings and labor. This was three years ago, still working fine.

I had my alt restored by Mr Pirkle a number of years ago and it still looks as good as new......IMO it's worth the $ and worth the wait.
