Just looking at my ST12 55-57 diagram it looks like all's ok except for 2 black wires. Diagram shows 2 blacks. You must have another somewhere in the nest.
One black should go to upper right terminal of your photo(empty?). This black is a 20g(small diameter), which goes to chassis gnd somewhere. Diagram looks like a gnd tiepoint somewhere, maybe to eng gnds or somewhere under dash at a gnd bolt?
The other black(appears to go to tail light gnds), should go to the third from the right top row terminal(now empty in pic). It's a 18g(bigger diam black).
Wow these diagrams in the book are hard to read. The mechanics back then must've needed magnifying glasses to see anything!:-)
