    1957 headlight switch

Can anyone give me a sketch of how the switch is suppose to be wired.
The diagram I have from Lectric/Limited does not exactly match my switch.

Picture of my switch wired is attached.
    What am I doing wrong??

    Thanks,
    Mike

Hi Mike, I'm not a 57 expert but I'll try.......

Just looking at my ST12 55-57 diagram it looks like all's ok except for 2 black wires. Diagram shows 2 blacks. You must have another somewhere in the nest.

One black should go to upper right terminal of your photo(empty?). This black is a 20g(small diameter), which goes to chassis gnd somewhere. Diagram looks like a gnd tiepoint somewhere, maybe to eng gnds or somewhere under dash at a gnd bolt?

The other black(appears to go to tail light gnds), should go to the third from the right top row terminal(now empty in pic). It's a 18g(bigger diam black).

Wow these diagrams in the book are hard to read. The mechanics back then must've needed magnifying glasses to see anything!:-)

    Hope it helps,
    Rich

        Mike -

Here's a sketch I made 12 years ago during disassembly when I restored my '57.

I want to thank all of you who have responded to my request.

FYI- I also found the info on Nolan Adams Restoration book.

I still can't get my parking and headlights to work but I'm hoping it is my switch that is faulty. I will soon find out when the replacement arrives.

            Thanks again,
            Mike
