    67 "Double" Pad Stamp

I know this topic has been addressed, but would like some opinions on this pad stamp. It's on a 67 small block. The last five digits of the VIN are 21197. It appears it got stamped with 21196, then restamped with 21197. Could this have happened at the factory? The car seems to be unmolested. Does the stamp look legit? Any thoguhts would be appreciated. Thank you,

    Jim

I am with you on the Red x. I posted the URL, so not sure why it isn't working. Here is the link.

I had a 73 base motor convertible that had the very same thing. The last digit was an overstamp, changing a 8 to a 7. The transmission had the same overstamp. Most likely factory.

What reason would there be to restamp a # like that. If I were judging it would pass assuming all other casting #'s were right.
