Yes, the "$60,000/gallon paint" is actually an ADDITIVE for the CLEARCOAT used on the carbon fiber roof panels. It is mixed into the clearcoat at about a 2% concentration. So, 1 gallon of the stuff will make up about 50 gallons of clearcoat. That should be enough to do quite a few roofs on ZR1's.

I am so out of touch...

I heard it had to do with a coating applied to the hood TV screen intercooler lexan (?) to keep it from yellowing. My problem is that I was at the circus... Smoke, mirrors, way too much money & let's party...

I had to spend more time looking on the web....

See the fifth paragraph of this story:

Of course, one has to consider it is a report by the media rather than a GM press release.

I wish they'd "lose" that window in the hood. Way too much "fluff" for me. I think they were struggling to give the car some "unique external features" and they reached out too far to find this one. It should appeal to "low rider" kind of guys, though. I mean, if they wanted to give the car a REALLY cool external feature they could have put those wheels on it that counter-rotate even when the car is stopped.

That will be the first change the new target market will make!

For the most part, we are dinosaurs that prefer to surround ourselves in constants and familiarity and as a result, keep the old stuff alive. Check the acronym on the front door.
