'60 Moulding Problem

Greetings,

I received the side trim for my '60 today from CC and most of the pieces are OK but the right front fender trim is too straight at the front curve. The front 8 - 10 inches is not bent enough causing the tip to misalign by 3/8". I'd send it back but I'm pretty sure a replacement would be the same way. Has anyone had any experience trying to bend this stuff? Looks like it would be easy to kink. How much heat could be applied without discoloring the stainless?

Don't try to bend it. It won't bend without a crinkle. Position the entire piece rearward and remove some of its end near the door if necessary. Classic problem. Only other solution is creative fiberglass rework.

This is a critical observation in Bow-Tie judging.

It's "molding" as opposed to "moulding". That misspelling has perpetuated in the TRM & JG for years!

They just copied GM

I bought quite a few '58 - '61 front fender side moldings back when they were available from Chevy. Just about all of them fit like you described, even when the fender fiberglass was unmolested.

You are right. The Judging Guide probably got the misspelling from the same place I did, Corvette Central's catalog.
