If the 25th Anniversary was Silver why is the 50th Anniversary not Gold?
Is it possible that the designers of Corvettes are so young that they have no knowledge of 50th Anniverary items using gold as the color cue?
As in Golden Wedding Anniversary. or In light of the 9-11 events perhaps a patriotic Red/White/Blue combination. But Burgandy??? What is the background on this color ? Did we not see this once already in 1993?
What evidence of long term fore thought do we have here? Nada!
Is it possible that this 50th event just sort of "snuck up" on ours boys in the back room? or Is this prime evidence that we really needed Lutz a year earlier? Think it over for your self. How many of us are in our 50's ourselves and have been waiting for this one special 50th Edition. Now we get this! a redo of the 40th is the absolute BEST that Chevrolet can provide?

Here is the answer to your questions:

I came across this photo of the designer that chose the colour:

            It actually makes me angry.....

to think how little thought has gone into the Corvettes 50th anniversary.

I expect Chevrolet will get the message

My dealer called me last week about ordering a 50th anniversary model. I had expressed interest in one over a year ago, as had several others, in preparation for what we all expected would be a classic. I was number eight on his list and I gave him the same answer he had heard from the previous seven. He had twenty more calls to make and was quite candid about the fact that he expected to hear the same thing another twenty times. "No Thanks, maybe a C6."

Re: I expect Chevrolet will get the message

There are several on-line petitions circulating around the various Corvette Boards intended to convey the message of disappointment and request for re-design from thousands of Corvette folks to Chevrolet on this issue; it's highly unlikely that anything will change, however, as they have already committed millions to the marketing aspects (wearables, souvenirs, logo items, jewelry, dealer promotional material, etc.) of the design as released. Just think about the eBay dummies who have forked over $5K+ to buy a "delivery position" for one

                        I don't think they will.

                        John,

So much for, as Dave Hill once said, a "highly collectable" car. The 40th Anniversary was 10 years ago - we already HAD this car.

The new motto: "Chevrolet Corvette: Twenty years of cars, Thirty more years of marketing."

Of course maybe it WILL be collectable because so few will be sold. I've got to see one in person first, but I'm already starting a search for a different car based on my disappointment with the 50th. I'm hoping to see a 50th sometime in June ( ) and be able to make up my mind then. 25 years later the two-tone 25th Anniversary car (much less the 35th) doesn't have a huge collector following and I doubt this one will in another 20 years either.

all they had to do was put the ZO-6 engine in the coupe and conv. and they would have sold thousands, but then they would sell no FRC like before the ZO-6 was made from the FRC
