Re: I love a good controversy

Nick, First you should look at the mounting area on the innerfenders. Look at both sides. See if there is any indication that it has or ever had the mount on the RH side. Check for the reinforcment bracket or any indication that the bracked was there. Are the holes drilled. Also look on the LH side and see what attachment was done on that side. What kind of rivet does it have on the bracket?.

John, I just checked the Chevrolet Engineering NPC's (Notice Of Production Changes) in my archives for 1967 MY and found NO Notices for a hood swap.

OK, I went back and read Noland`s book again. I have read it many times before, over and over. I even have a credit in the book, so its not like I am unfamiliar with it. Here is what I find on this subject. After a story about the damage to the mold and the decision to substitute BB hoods, which has no documentary foot notes, It goes on to say that " big-block hoods were installed on small-block cars in late Febuary or early March 1967, for a period of three to five days. 23". The #23 foot note cites Roy`s car #12345. This is the only documentation in the book. I dont know what other evidences Noland may have uncovered, but he cites no other sources. Noland goes on to say that there several identifying factors but list only one that is relavent. That is, there are no signs of hood support mounts on the RH side of the innerfender. Which indicates that the support will be installed on the LH side. Not drilled and no bracket I assume. He goes on to say that the replacement hoods have plates riveted in the RH side, which I dont see how this has any relevance if there are no provisions on the RH side. Then we look at our judging manual and it allows that there were some BB hoods installed in late Feb. or March but it states that the substitute hood " has a modified right side mount for the hood support". OK which is it? It seems that there is a lot of confusion here. Help us here Roy, you hold the key.
