Matt will elaborate, but he has the whole history of the car, with photos from back in it's slalom days along with photos and all the accoutrements from the Clippinger slalom team.
The car is fully documented, and the stripe is staying put, full paint deduct and all. Not an issue.

Given that history it might be a candidate for the American Heratige Award. A conversation with Bill Calorico the 1966 National Team Leader would be appropriate. The stripe, the slalom, and Clippenger story might carry the day in that catagory.

Sorry gang, I haven't checked in in this thread in a little while. I appreciate the words of encouragement and direction on the stripe. As Don said, it's not going anywhere! The heritage award option would really be a neat honor with this car given it's photo and race result history.....and the fact that it's primary driver was a female. We will see what happens. Regarding pictures, let me see what I can do here...try this...

I just looked through your photobuckets. With the Clippinger and autocross history IF it were mine I would not touch it. That car is great and either reminds us mature folk or shows the younger what we did with these cars in the day. If I could bring back the late 50's pin striping on my '57 I would. At least I have pics before removing them. Great car, great pics, and great documented history. Six tail lights, stripe, mags --- that was a great time. Steve
