Gotta love this time of year for driving the 'Vette.

This is such a nice time of year around here, apologies to those on the east and west coasts and up north, high 20s at night, mid-high 50s in the day, bright sunshine, dry and no wind. Take off all the "correct" flight judging stuff (air filters, wheels, tires, etc.) put on the road gear, and crank up the '67 for some nice, very spirited driving around the area, even to the grocery store, everybody loves it. No judging for months, so just enjoy the car and driving such a great machine, and being lucky to be able to do it. Life is good! Cheers to all.

What is a snow banker? A quick google search didn't bring up anything useful.

i believe a snow banker is a junker car you use solely to get you through the winter, while your real ride hibernates out of the weather. While I too was not familiar with the term, a colleague of mine who grew up in the north had previously told me of this practice.

                      JR,

Philip hit it right on the head. We use to have an old beater that we could drive in the winters so that we could park the nice stuff and wait for spring (and, salt removal). We called them that because as young kids (16-18) we would, while driving down a country road with the roads plowed and the snow banked several feet high on the sides of the road, on occasion "bank" into the snow and bounce off just for kicks. Typically at a rather slow speed and with no traffic around in either direction. A winter diversion for teenagers bored with the long winters. Does everyone know what "brodies" are?? Find a large, empty parking lot after a fresh snow and at 15-20mph cut the wheel sharply and spin out doing donuts. Anything to kill time during those long, cold, miserable winters. And, as Philip mentioned, these were old junkers that we couldn't even figure out how the body was still attached to the frame because they were so rusted out...great memories, though.

And at the grocery store where I take it daily, no one ever asks: "Is that a real L71?"
