Joe, the last two AC Delco batteries I have bought for Corvettes (1968 and 1996) only have a 42 month free replacement warranty. The batteries replaced my AC Delco 7 year batteries.

I don't think the 7 year Delco batteries ever had a 7 year free replacement period. There was a period of 50 months during which free replacement was provided. After that, it was pro-rated up to 7 years. The current 42 month batteries have a free replacement period of 42 months and no warranty after that. It's not a big deal, though. During the previous pro-rated period there was really very little credit given towards a new battery. It would be nice to still have the 50 month free replacement period, though.

While in Walmart a few months ago, I noticed their store brand battery had the attachments for the vents shown the first post. So this is an alternative to the Delco VPS battery.

For seldom used cars, I learned to prefer replacing an inexpensive battery (read: Walmart) over using an expensive battery over a longer period of time.
