As my memory serves me when I was balancing many many tires back in the early 70's at my Amoco Service Stations for all cars and not just Chevrolets and Corvettes.....11/2 ounce micro weight was the most commonly used and needed. After that there was usually a problem with the tire or the wheel that we tried to resloved before putting over 3-4 oz weights. Now we were not balancing tires for NCRS cars so we used weights on both sides of the wheel. Mostly used a tri-pod bubble balancers as the "spin' balancing machines were just coming out in the market for use.
