    Troy------

This does not appear to be GM packaging. It may be of one of the other auto manufacturers or it may be of some other origin. Of course, Casco elements were probably used widely in the automotive world. The exact same ones used for GM were almost certainly used by other manufacturers.

Joe is correct. It's not GM packaging, it's Hudson packaging.

Go to PDF Page 36 of the 1955 to 1956 Hudson Parts Catalog here.....

      LIGHTER, CIGAR is Group 3.352

PDF Page 156 shows your mystery part number.

      Description - Year & Model - Qty per Car - Part#
      ELEMENT, Cigar Lighter 356 40-50-60-80 1 311 9884

      (356 is 1956, probably a 12V system as 1955 was likely a 6V system)

So, it looks like you have the equivalent parts, i.e. GM Part# 3710581 in Group 9.709

      Rich
ps I web search'd this string to find it...... 3119884 Group 3.352

Wow, that's great! Mystery solved. Thanks for all the effort on everyone's part!

Got to love those Hudson parts. I bought a pair of correct 6V steelback headlight bulbs for my '54 Corvette that were in Hudson boxes.

so what year corvette are these elements found on? if the treaded part is the same as that used on a corvette then these do match the pictures of original elements in the 1958-60 corvette restoration guide by bob baird. in the past I tried to find the tread size for the corvette elements. does anyone know what size bolt fit these threads?
