    TI ignition conversion question

I'm helping a friend find the answer to a question.

On a TI car, the harness conversion includes a white lead from the amplifier connected to the positive side of the coil.

What happens to the double pink wire and connector that was on the positive terminal of the coil?

I have looked in the AIM under the K66 section and the judging guide, also the Dr Rebuild wiring info. I can't find any mention of that connector after the conversion.

From looking at the diagrams my assumption is you eliminate this connection and simply tape off the connector and tuck it somewhere.

Anyone know specifics on how to handle this connection?

    Thanks,

    Don

Don, Correct, there is nothing in the AIM regarding the Ballast Pink wire which routes from the output of the ballast to the Coil+ on a points distributor system. The other end of the coil+ end double pink goes to the R terminal connector in the engine harness. You have to cut the terminal at the coil+ and add the blade terminal and plastic connector and that is wired to the harness plug at the TI harness distributor twin plug.

Yes you can tape the Main Pink wire off and tuck it away, but I always cut the terminal at the ballast and pull it completely out of the harness. Both ends are unused so no voltage is there. I believe this was the process used at the factory as well.

If there is ever a intention to return the points distributor to the engine, simply tape it up for future use.

      Thanks Rich.

It was so hard to tell what to do per the AIM, we followed the Dr Rebuild instructions on his oOSOEZ wiring diagrams. His says to cut and replace the connector that comes from the coil + to the ballast, not at the coil where the two wires go into that connector.

Gets the same result but leaves the double pink wire connector hot. I think I'll suggest he just tape that connector and then included it in the bundle that gets taped together per the AIM (item 8 on K66 sheets A2 and A3).

      Thanks again,
