    Re: What is this part?

Retail hobbyists paint all reproductions with the same brush, as most have little knowledge of who makes what – and how many different suppliers are present.

Those tie straps in this discussion were first reproduced by John Gasnecia (RIP). Who here remembers when they were introduced? Later by Richard Cohen (RIP). I believe Jerry Kohn may also. Also most recently by Bill Carangi. I’m trying not to leave anyone out, but since there are other GM car lines involved, there are more.

The last time I had these parts re-run: in the USA, in Connecticut, in Bridgeport at 25 Wells St. they were remarkably faithful to the GM blueprints in all parameters. Even the Charmin test. But I realized a long, long time ago that there isn’t a single repro that will be judged as 100% authentic.

Now back to the real query: do original White ones have an Fx logo?

FWIW never seen anything other than just the mold cavity number on original straps natural color or black.

Just went through a bag of straps, 90% of them originals and all have a number but no letters. Will check cars soon.

          All------

Something I've never understood. The vast majority of GM parts drawings specify that the manufacturer's ID is to appear on the part unless otherwise approved. I cannot understand why GM would ever have approved such a deletion yet I've seen quite a few original GM parts that did not have such manufacturer's ID.

GM blueprints are like the government. They often specify one thing & do another. Yes most do say "mfg ID must be on part". Most say an arrow on radiator hoses - but many old photos show none. They say cad or zinc & it's black or v.v. Surprise, surprise. The GM books have differences. There is only one hard rule: get the part to GM; get the part on the car & get the car out the door. Ncrs historians & restorers be dammed & befuddled

Let me try to list this out so it's not confusing.
First when talking about markings on original black t straps you have to designate the size 5" or 7" as they are different
5" black t straps have 2 different markings
1 is the RX (drug store sign I call it) with a # below the RX
2 is the P design with a # immediately to the right of the P
7" black t straps have just a # and nothing else.

                Re: What is this part?

Sorry Geoff, No Rx on these but just to add more data. It appears no originals have the Rx from everyone's input so far.

                These are on a friend's '63 Daytona Blue outside/inside 250hp, 3 speed, no-radio car, vin 15,xxx.
