      Omg.. !! Blasphemy
My ears are bleeding. . I think I'll visit my local Ford Dealership and buy a 2017 T-bird with 700+hp. As soon as I change my oil filter on 54 Corvette

Here's the oil filter on ours. VIN #4400, only 3 cars before yours off the assembly line. Anyone can see it.

It's a 1954. No filter. Under the washer jar to the right is the engine mount.

Since he said that he has an oil filter, that was my guess. What's yours? There were many that had dealer installed filters as well as many aftermarket filters that were available.

He said he bought a filter, he didn't say it had a filter. Since I answered his 1954 Corvette six Pertronix question a few days ago I knew what car he was asking about. And since this is the NCRS Technical Discussion board where we talk about original cars and keeping them that way, the 1954 Corvettes had no provision for an oil filter. Unless someone added an aftermarket somewhere, he'll never find it which appears to be the case.

Al said he couldn't find his filter. You state you who HAVE a filter. If you actually have one, that was my guess. BTW, if the 6 cyl. had a mechanical oil pressure gauge, there definitely was a way to put the dealer added or aftermarket filter in place.

You are responding to me? I'm Randy, and my picture shows no filter. That was the point of me posting it. And I pointed that out in my next post.

I guess I was confused when you clearly stated "Here's the oil filter on ours" alluding to the fact that you actually have one.

I forgot to use the "sarcasm" emoji when posting my picture.

I can add to Chris Sherman's comment
235 Blue Flame engines in Corvettes didnt have a filter...... or windows, or door handles,
Yes - they did not have oil filters.....
...and you had to open the hood and turn on a water valve by the water pump to get the heater to work, and you can't charge your cell phone in the lighter socket in the dash because it's 6 volts, and the passenger seat does not adjust, and the radio antenna is a mesh glued under the trunk lid instead of a mast, and the equivalent $5 part on a C2 is $2,000 on a '54....

And I'll add to Chris' post that it took Chevrolets total of Corvette sales from 53 to 61 to barely exceed what Ford T-Birds sold from 55 to 57.

                              Hey Randy.

                              Two questions.
                              1) Help me understand the chrome shielding some are blue..and I've seen a car with 8000 miles and it's black. Is that an upgrade from the dealership??. Noted that you stated your car is 3 cars ahead of mine is black. Original block head components radio radio straps on body...footman straps..
2)whats that data tag on your firewall?
                              3) I notice you have a chrome valve cover. Again I've seen blue and chrome..optional or upgrade ?
                              4) where did you get there fuel hose from?

                              Thanks

Re: I can't find the oil filter...

I'm a novice, not an expert, but I'll try to help. Do you have the latest NCRS publications (Judging Guide, etc.)? Those are helpful and will answer most of your questions.

                                1) Chrome shielding from what I understand showed up 3/4 the way through production on some cars in the VIN 3,000's. My VIN is likely too late for it but it was chrome when I got it, and since it isn't 100% clear when it started and stopped or how many were actually done at the factory that way I left it chrome.

                                2) Same story with chrome valve cover. Some were born with them. Mine came with it and it's not 100% clear when they started or stopped from the factory or how many were actually done. I left it chrome, and actually just had all of it rechromed. It's not wrong and it can be proven wrong as far as I know. All the original chrome one's I've seen did not have the "Blue Flame" stickers on the valve covers, so I didn't put them on mine.

                                3) Are you asking about the rubber flex fuel hose that goes from the hard line that ends at the engine mount to the fuel pump? I'm trying to remember. It may have been Grossmueller's.
