Mike, One other thing I noticed, but it may also be a optical illusion .....

    That big steel washer below?

Is the curved edge of the steel washer facing up, or down. Curved edge should face the rubber in all 4 locations.

Seeing the lock washer next to the nut also threw me. The lock washer does go on the bolt head side. Sorry again for my wrong thinking

Right. I just checked my AIM too. I think we may have been thinking or the Trailing Arm forward Pivot Bolt. Which goes from inboard to outboard.

So, No need to paint those shocks now either.

I'll let you know what I find tomorrow morning Richard. Thanks. I assume the the logic is that the rounded edges mounted towards the bushing reduces the chance of cuts to the bushing. Correct?

Richard - your eagle eyes were correct. I corrected all four washer too have the curved side facing the rubber bushing. Thanks for the help.

                Mike,

Thank you very much for writing this thread. I used your procedure yesterday on my 70 BB convertible, and it went flawlessly.

                Thanks,
                Allen

First time I did that was 1980! Similar concept works (with chains) for the front coils, F41s too.
