Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA

family and i lived in morgantown wva from 67-78. grafton wva just a short hop south of motown. i don't recall seeing this c-1 in W Va during my stay there. morgantown was a hot bed of corvette activity during our time there. i purchased 5 vets( 3 c-1's and a pair of c-2's) during our stay in my favorite state. just about to start restoring a 65 FI roadster with 20K miles on the clock. it really doesn't need it but i'm running out of projects. its a glen green saddle leather with tele, K/O's and its original long block as well as Rochester. it had its original engine laying in a mud puddle in front of the car the day i got it. seller insisted i take the engine. glad i did now. i'm pretty confident it would get a star for its interior. previous original owner tapped the right front corner and the chevy garage put a 66 up right inner skirt and 1//3 top surround. i'd got a nos top surround and used appropriate inner skirt. i put a set of outside exhaust on it near 48 years ago which i plan on removing. in all the years i've owned it(since 1971), i've only put 300 miles on it . it cost me $650 in 1970 with the engine in the mud(it spun a rod bearing back in the day). mike

      Re: C-1 Leak testing

Great photos, I would have been the 8-10 yr. old kid in most of them. Attached is one of my personal favorites. From the April 1960 edition of Sports Cars magazine, a small add back in the classified section, the fifth one down is a Corvette you may have heard of. Love the SP 7-2000 phone number !! I would have called but I don't think my parents would have allowed me to purchase it, I turned three the following month.

BTW - the George Barris/Farah Fawcett car posted on one of the first pages is alive and well, purchased by one of our NW Chapter members at BJ a year or so ago.

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA

the original owner, the daughter of a wealthy pittsburg pa fella, came to wvu as a freshman in 65 with the brand new c-2 FI. she must not have finished and got her degree, based on the shack she and her hubby were living in when i bought the car. the hubby spin a rod bearing in the mid to late 60, dropped pan, went to town and got a new rod bearing, installed it and it spin the new bearing again. he then got disgusted and pulled the engine after removing all of the interior and the engine accessories and cardboard boxing it all for storage in their shack. the poor ole 375 HP short block lay in the mud. don't recall his first name but bubba would fit. mike

Mikey was a good looking lad is his younger days. That was probably his first
57 Corvette. Most likely had a cheater motor in it.

Maybe, but could be the light. Consider the shade of white near the headlight and bumper and the transition in shade. Photo has other similar shade transitions. I'm more concerned by what ever is going on with the sun visors.

Wondering if those are wide wheels.
