      Rick
why don't you post your question here. and perhaps ask for a pm or an email from someone with first hand knowledge.
Likely several with vast judging experience will answer your request. In fact, someone already has.

          Rick,

The National Team Leaders are listed under Contacts on the DB website main page. No need to go to the Restorer.

            Re: NCRS judge

Nolan Adams book on Restoration 53-62 Vol 1 has on page 392 paragraph 3 & 4 says engine blocks and parts have dates cast into them. Yes! Now paragraph 4 says Date coding was alphabetical and the letter "I" was omitted.
So if a block casting date on the rear has J... that is Sept. The stamping on the front of the block also is stamped F09... However NCRS judging manual says J is Oct. This throws the stamping date off. What's up with all that? Any help would be appreciated.

Casting dates include an I for month designation. (September). The J would definitely indicate October.
Stamped dates that use a letter for a month designation almost always skip the I, so in that case, J indicates September. (Starter, regulator, distributor, generator, etc.
block assembly date stamping (on the front pad) can be a little confusing, because they used an I character to designate a 1.
If you have additional questions on your 62, I would be glad to help. I have a bit of experience with them.

I think that is a bit of an understatement.

Ah thanks Mike. Ok. The casting date code on the block is J251. The stamped code on the front of the block is F0928RF. I'm confused.
