I do,... finally. Joe is referring to the range of motion of the rocker arm, measured in degrees, and limited by the construction of the tip of the pushrod.

I still don't understand. 180 or 270 degrees cannot refer to the range of motion of the rocker arm.

What does "...rotation of the pushrod end, "for-and-aft" within the socket of the rocker arm" mean?

You are right, Mark. Brain spasm at my end; no rocker arm in the world could rock thru an angle of even 180 degrees, to say nothing of 270.

        Joe?

I never said the rocker arms rotated through 180 or 270 degrees. I said the pushrods had a CAPABILITY of rotating through those many degrees. More is better.

So what prevents some pushrods from rotating more than 180 or 270 degrees?

              Mark-----

Take an un-installed pushrod and rocker arm and move the pushrod "fore-and-aft" in the rocker ball "socket" of the rocker arm.

              Also, it's not 180 and 270 degrees; it's "180" and "270" degrees.

Bruce: The discussion about my broken valve spring was moved by Don Hooper after I made the reference in post number 6 above. I should not have put it under the Altoona Regional discussion, and I don't mind that he moved it. If you have not yet found it, and still want to look, see the link just above this added comment.
