Joe, I discovered that when you replace the module you loose all of the memory for the computer controlled
seat exit setting, the steering wheel exit and operation and the sideview mirror setting. After a conversation
with my knowledgeable friend who replaced the unit, he indicated one would have to go to a dealer and have them
flash the unit with their magic computer software and all would be well. I got lost when he said Chevy dealer. I will
go on the internet and see if goggle can answer this question, or if someone out in the net can advise me what it does
and should I take it to a dealer to solve this anomaly. Oh if only it was as complicated as setting the timing on my 270HP
    57 Corvette.

Anytime one replaces any electronic module or "computer" which has a memory function, whatever is in the memory will be lost. In addition, many of these electronic devices in modern-day cars require "initialization" with equipment which, generally, only GM dealerships have available.

Joe, I took the car to another Chevy dealer. They were able to reset all of the memory functions, seat, and side view mirrors, they were unable
to reset the telescopic steering wheel. I was advised that the seat module has to be reprogramed to see the steer wheel function. When their
tech attempted to talk to the module using an OBD II unit was told that the test equipment was unable to read the problem. I checked the fuse
for the steer wheel motor and it is in good order. I was given a set of instruction to turn the ignition on but not fire the engine, then press the down button on the column 8 times then hold the button down and it should reset the system. I conducted the test, to no joy. I need someone to advise me on my next step. It was working before I replaced the seat module Even though the seat adjustment works the steering wheel failed.
