Re: 1967 Steering Wheel Collar Date
Page 36 of the 5th edition of the 1967 TIM&JG states: "The bottom of the directional signal housing on second design columns installed beginning in January 1967 has a stamped date in Julian format". My Oct. 1966 car does not have a date code on this collar.- Top

Re: 1967 Steering Wheel Collar Date
Gary, was the deduction on your car for the absence of a date code or the presence of it? Is your collar refinished or FOEM coated?
The reason why the January 67 start date reference was removed was, as you see by Brian's response, and others in my data files, we have records of 66 dates... The 5th edition was in error.- Top

Re: 1967 Steering Wheel Collar Date
Gary,
My Sept. 23, 1966 built convertible has It's original steering column and there is no date anywhere on it to be found.- Top

Re: 1967 Steering Wheel Collar Date
Tim,
Thank you for taking the time to reply, with a few more responses like yours, maybe we can get the 67 team to change the judging manual to, early 67 collars may or may not be dated? Unless they have firm evidence that ALL early 67s were dated.

Re: 1967 Steering Wheel Collar Date
The best solution was to not specify a starting date for collar date stampings. Simply put, from a judging perspective, date or no date on a pre January 67 car no worry!
