Re: Identify rear springs
David, Do you have the current 58-60 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide (new - 5th Edition available from the store)? It has a detailed summary and pictures starting on page 314. This is the first NCRS Judging manual in color (I think) and well worth the cost - many thanks to the revision team! Besides being original or not, they could have been re-arched incorrectly. Re: Identify rear springs
Does your 61 or 62 have 4 leaves or 5? In the last picture it appears you have 5 leaves, if this is so it will be very stiff. I know 5 leaves were an option on some cars but did the 5th leaf also have the same grooves as stock 4?- Top

Re: Identify rear springs
This is not a stock leaf set. There appears to be 4 leaves, however it appears the ends of the three lower leaves were torch cut. I had added an extra leaf to a set of springs by cutting the eyes off the main leaf on a 55 Chevy. If these individual leaves are longer than the stock springs, the spring bundle will be stiffer. The lowest leaf is much longer than a stock leaf. Also, the ends of stock lower leaves have a thinner section about 3" long.
You may want to look for a set of stock springs and send them to Eaton for reconditioning. I did that to a set and had good results.
