True, but I try very hard to keep 'em shiny-side up. I saw one yours at Nationals in 2018, I think. It looked like my black one except for interior color. I also had that funny fiberglass fuel tank, very impractical in these days of ethanol laced fuel

Here are the two I have now, the '65 is in the survey:

Yours look very good alright, probably better sunny side up. Yes, the one I had at 'Vegas was my '64 black with white leather interior FI, TI tanker. Thank goodness for ethanol free premium being pretty common around my area, so that tank can remain in one piece.....

            Patrick,
In my opinion auctions are a deceiving test of values. As you know many auction cars are there for a reason.
Recently a blue L84 coupe that was a no excuse car sold for what I would consider full value and a black L84 coupe sold at Mecum a year or two ago for a similiar value. Like most corvettes many L84 cars have issues, thus the lower selling prices. High quality L84 and other cars can and will command the high selling prices they deserve. I'm a bit predjuce but I think L84 cars represent an opportunity in the hobby.

A bigger concern to me would be the condition of the original engine block. What if it has freeze cracks? It gets pretty cold around there! I'm just not brave enough to take on the risk associated with repairing this car.

I recently rebuilt a 283 engine in a '57 that had sat without running in a museum for ~30 years. The adapter manifold had rusted into three pieces at the rear. The water passages in both heads were blocked solid with rust. At least there weren't any cracks. It also had three bent rods, but that obviously happened before the museum period.

If the 3 65 FI cars at Barrett in January that sold for what appeared to be under market are being used for comps, I inspected them and it is questionable that 2 of them left St Louis as FI cars and the 3rd one was sold with a non OEM Trim Tag so they sold for more than they were worth. I agree with Dave that the real FI cars are selling for strong money.

I've looked at a few cars for sale recently, all but one were either obviously bogus or very questionable. There was a time (ten years ago) when these cars almost never came up for sale, it'd be nice if fakes would stop appearing to muddy up the market (not that I care too much about the value).

Given the amount of water, the bent rods probably were caused by water-filled cylinders freezing

I looked at car on E Bay and later recieved an invite to make an offer. I offered 20 K and was refused. Retiring soon and i imagine that car would take close to the rest of my life to complete.

I saw that one on ebay too. I think I would just preserve it.

Jim pointed out that a probably real FI convertible is on ebay for $50,000 "OBO". It's still listed on Sunday night.

About one year ago, the Sullivan Brothers Auction in Quincy, IL was able to get near $80,000 for a maroon (probably real FI convertible) Corvette. Was the maroon "car-port car" in Iowa that much better?

Same Sullivan brothers were also able to fetch near $75,000 for a red '63 Corvette "barn find" in 2018. It was not a fuelie, but had that "must have" rear window.

My factory documented '65 Fuelie convertible with its original drivetrain is listed for $65K. And it's ready to go.

I drooled on the FI black/white coupe residing close to my house last Friday and the next day was emailed a picture of a yellow FI coupe at a car show in Kihei, Maui. Friday morning, we walked by the black car to look at his 1600 original mile 1954 that was recently painted. It was a corvette day.....
