2020 Convention Cancelled

Dear NCRS Members,

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the evolving guidance from the CDC, federal, state, and local authorities, the NCRS Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Convention planned for July 19-23 in French Lick, Indiana. The health and wellbeing of the NCRS membership was foremost in our mind as we made this decision.

Refunds will be made to those who have already registered. This will take some time so please be patient. The French Lick Resort has already, or will shortly issue a blanket cancellation of reservations made in the NCRS room block, so there is no need for you to call the hotel to cancel your reservations.

We are strongly recommending that all NCRS Chapters continue to follow CDC, federal, state, and local guidance until the coronavirus pandemic is behind us. At a minimum we suggest that you cancel any events planned between now and the end of the Convention blackout period, which would have run through August 6, 2020.

As unfortunate as this decision is, it is probably the best based on the information available now.

The nurses, the doctors, EMTs, fire/police departments and the volunteers are putting their lives on the line for all of us.
Each one of them is a hero.

Tough call but the right one!

Better to let the membership know now than drag this out to mid-summer. All forecasts are based on models and I, one who follow hurricane federal forecast models for the last thirty years, know how that works out. AT least with hurricanes, there is a history...no history whatsoever with COVID-19. By summer feds will talking about vaccination models...get ready for that roll-out.

I am aware of a member, who has a son that is a Police Officer. His son is currently recovering from Covid-19 and is doing well and should be back to work in the next 2 weeks. He contracted it while working.

Yes, I have never appreciated my daughter, who is a nurse at Columbia University Medical in NYC, more than now. As she goes to work in empty subways, I pray for her and everyone there.........

our grand daughter, who got her RN degree in may of 2019, took a job at one of Duke U's hospitals in the winston salem nc area. when she started working there this past summer, she worked the oncology ward and got used to sending the elderly oncology patients on their trip elsewhere. 2 weeks ago, the hospital administration sent the oncology patients to a different floor and converted Colleen's ward to the corona care area.yesterday she watched a 19 year old boy leave this world alone, since no family members are allowed in. it took its toll on Colleen. like most hospitals, there is an acute shortage of ventilators, masks and sanitizers. pray . mike

My wife and son both work at a major hospital here in CT. Wife has been working from home for the last two weeks, but my son is on the front line at hospital. I pray he comes home every night still in good health. Corvettes, and Meets will come and go, but a persons life is only once. Please pray for everyone.
