    Dear NCRS Members,

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the evolving guidance from the CDC, federal, state, and local authorities, the NCRS Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 Convention planned for July 19-23 in French Lick, Indiana. The health and wellbeing of the NCRS membership was foremost in our mind as we made this decision.

Refunds will be made to those who have already registered. This will take some time so please be patient. The French Lick Resort has already, or will shortly issue a blanket cancellation of reservations made in the NCRS room block, so there is no need for you to call the hotel to cancel your reservations.

We are strongly recommending that all NCRS Chapters continue to follow CDC, federal, state, and local guidance until the coronavirus pandemic is behind us. At a minimum we suggest that you cancel any events planned between now and the end of the Convention blackout period, which would have run through August 6, 2020.

Mike Ingham on behalf of the NCRS Board

It would be great if possible to reschedule French Lick to 2021 and move Palm Springs to 2022. JMHO.

    Thanks

      Harry,
We actually have Convention commitments out through 2023 at this point, so doing what you propose would require an extraordinary number of dominoes falling into place with multiple hotels and convention centers. If I were a betting man, I would not bet on a successful outcome.

        Greg,
You and your family have already sacrificed more than most neighborhoods could imagine. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for your son, and your family.
        God Bless,

          Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply. I know it was only a pipe-dream, but I had to ask since it was on my mind.

Thanks to you and the Board for being great stewards of our organization and making the tough decisions way in advance of any last minute reactions.

Our group is tough and good at heart so we will all make it together and be wiser for the experience.

There are and will be better times ahead and we will look back at this as just a break in life as we know and enjoy it.

Mike, can you remind the group what the convention glide path looks like beyond Palm Springs 2021 and Mobile, AL 2022?

Northwest Chapter was able to move their regional from this year in August to 2022 in August. I was notified earlier today and it will be on the front page of the Driveline with all the other cancellation announcements.

                Chris,
Our current plan is to be back in French Lick in 2023, so if you and your team can reschedule to late May/early June 2023 with your hotel and convention center you would once again be a good feeder for the Convention. Other Chapters have been able to avoid financial penalties by offering to reschedule.

As an owner of a 1970 Corvette I am disappointed there will be no "Year of the 1970". Some cynic might postulate given the short production of that year it is no great loss, but you might understand why I believe differently.

Even combining 1970 & 1971 in Palm Springs falls short given the geography of this country.

Terry, all things considered, I really like your idea of combining 70 and 71. It would be unique for NCRS but still recognize those important years.

Just in from the North Central Chapter.
After the North Central Chapter Board Meeting today, we have started the process of canceling the North Central Regional for 2020 originally scheduled for June 11th - 13th in Rochester, MN. Refunds will be issued to all members who have registered. Dave Murphy (event chair) has already contacted the host hotel and arena to inform them of our decision. Will probably be moved to the spring of 2023.
