Below is a picture of what I believe is the original for a 1963 Corvette December car.

Richard, seen that wire being discussed before so hang onto it for future help.
The subject wire is the outside wire connecting the horn relay to each horn, it's behind the grill.

My vote is for a Black wire from the horn relay to the horns in 63!

I think they're discussing the wire that physically runs to the lo/hi horn trumpets... I thought the factory upper steering column bearing horn wire was tan in 63; but most cars are running service replacements that sport the green wire (I have several of these still in the boxes)...

Thanks to all - since my original harness had green wires, I am going to try to come up with a creative way to correct without splicing or messing up the current wires. A lot of things changed in and around March on '63 cars (mine is March 20th) so just another challenge!

Hi, My 1963, built the last day of May, had a black wire between the horns on the original harness. I replaced it with a new replacement harness in 1984 and that wire was green.

Hi Mike, I am in Michigan during the summer/fall, like now, but Arizona in the winter.
                  Thanks,

OK Federick if you want to change the horn wire, it's simple. The horn wire is a single wire, so remove the one you desire and put into your current harness. Have shown you my 64 harness, note the horn wire loops back (under the red wire) into the harness at the relay and is held in place by a short section of tape.
Note the loop. When taking your harness apart not how the tape is tied at the end and just take your time removing it (no need to cut)
Then just run the tape back and tie as before.

I have made the successful switch replacing the black wires with the green wire from the original harness. I think there are some photos in other threads about the positioning of the horns as well as the photos in the AIM. Any feedback is appreciated.

There are also clips to secure that green wire (2 or 4 IIRC). From the 63 AIM.
The angle of the horns shown in the AIM is about 45* off on each side making the depiction a bit strange considering how the horns can actually be mounted. The main thing is to have the trumpet openings facing down where they won't collect water! (see picture)

Yep - saw that I had installed them in the reverse order after posting. Wires should go under the clips on the support but I am apparently missing a clip on the fender of the passenger side. The brackets should be lined up with the ridges on each side of the support as well.
                              Thanks Frank!

Frank, any idea where I can find Clip #8 in the AIM diagram? The wire is secured in the lower clips, just hard to see at that angle.

                                Thanks.
