    Robert,

Just curious what is the build date of your car?

Bob, if there is nothing wrong with them I would leave them alone some of the reproduction and after market parts are made in China, those parts I am sure they are 50 years and have lasted this long.as much as we drive these cars they will last another 50. GM made some good suspension and steering parts in the days these cars were made. Just clean them up and reuse.

That looks very much to me like they could be the originals. Does the yellow paint appear to be factory-installed? If so, that clearly would be another vote for originality.

I have a couple of tie rod questions.
1- Do the tie rod ends in the photo appear original? They are from my 1971, (71,000 mi) and I don’t know if they have been replaced.
2- I may want to replace them, if so , any vendor recommendations would be appreciated. Paragon’s are about 2x the cost vs. some of the other big vendors. This is for a car that will be judged.
              3) can you confirm what numbers/letters originals be marked with please
              Thank you

              Robert-------

Absolutely no doubt these are original ball joints or OEM replacements (there's no difference between originals and OEM GM replacements).

Pictured are OEM tie rod ends [none for sale]. Place no importance on the forging die numbers. They could vary as there were undoubtedly multiple forging dies.

As someone who judges mostly chassis it is my opinion that there is no difference between tie rod ends installed on the assembly line or purchased over the counter.

I figure I've got enough if I live to be about 300 years old. After that, though, I'm worried.
