The "D" on the bag you posted on ebay appears to be stamped and is dark and not opaque in color like the others posted in the thread. My bag had, like the others posted here, an opaque/off white "D" on the lower left corner and the ebay one has a D, but it's not opaque/off white. Not sure, but if i was spending my money, i would be looking for one that's 13.5 inches and had an opaque D on it....My two cents..>ARA

I have 2 original 67 Washer bags. Both are 13.5" long, have the small opaque D on the face and have tan cloth backing. One bag is very worn on the front and the D is barely visible.

I have it from an exceptionally good source that the information could be carryover verbiage from the '66 JG and was just never caught...until now. Remember, the '67 JG also states that the bag is 11" wide instead of, the known correct, 13.5". The description in the '67 JG fits what is correct for an earlier '65-'66 bag. Human error...oversight, I'm pretty sure.

            Leif,

            That would explain things.

I believe the 65-66 bag applies to 63-66.

As I mentioned, the judging of that item is not done from the description in the '67 TIM&JG.

Re: '67 Windshield Washer Bag with A/C

I have been following this very interesting thread. I finally had a chance to check out my car. Its a '67 coupe, one-owner, survivor L79 with A/C. VIN 115166 (build date March 30, 1967). Last month it was judged at a Chapter Meet, Top Flight, no deduction for washer bag.

The car was parked in 1974 and discovered 40+ years later. So unless the washer bag was replaced before 1974, it is believed to be original.

It measures 13-1/2" X 6-1/4". It has the small "D" on the lower left in faded yellow which matches the other lettering. The eyelets are definatly NON-MAGNETIC brass, which seems contrary to previous posts. I took some steel wool to the eyelet and clearly saw the yellow brass color.

The back side seems to be a grayish color with diaginal lines similar to a fabric.

                Here's a few photos.

                  Rocco,
I'm going to guess, like many other parts used by GM back in the day, there was more than one supplier of the washer bags. Tan canvas back with brass colored steel magnetic rings and gray canvas back with brass rings. Just my very humble opinion.

                    I agree.

Just like we have Eaton and Switzer fan clutches used interchangeably on our cars.

I knew I had a second '67 washer bag in my stash somewhere and I finally dug it out. Unlike the tan canvas back one that is in my car, this one is identical to Rocco's bag...dark gray canvas back with brass (non-metallic) grommets. As stated earlier, I'm pretty sure both types were used in the model year '67.

This is good, always nice when everyone can have a TFP part.

                          Leif,
i bought the washer bag from Peter at the Frisco meet. It is exactly like your first set of pics and like many others that have chimmed in. It has
passed judging with zero deducts at Bloomington, Chicago, and recently at Cedar Rapids. My red ac coupe is a 3/31 car. The one in the car when I bought it was dark gray. I took Peter's bag and got 3 or 4 opinions on it before I bought it. All that were asked responded "it's a real one".

Did you ever have your car judged when it had the dark gray bag?

                              John,
Thank you for your input. I was going to buy Pete's bag as a back-up...very nice piece. I think what this thread is beginning to show is that both types of bags were used during the '67 model year...either at the same time or, possibly, introduced at different times. We may never know the answer to that question.

                                Leif:
The washer bag from my car looks exactly like yours, except is more weathered. The eyelets are on 10" centers, and the bag measures approx 6 3/8 x 13 1/2. The eyelets are definitely magnetic, and appear to be brass plated. My car is #8902, built Jan 23. Could not find evidence of the "D"; probably faded away. The back is a textured, tan colored, material, and has a cloth appearance. I've owned car since 1978, and suspect this is the first time bag has ever been removed from car.
