Re: Carburetor Date Code
What is the build date of your engine ? I would look for 30-90 days from build date of the engine. You can go back as much a 6 months but that's not typical.- Top

Re: Carburetor Date Code
Engine build date A19 6
Carb date code 5B 4
Would that be to soon, or acceptable for judging?- Top

Typically, 3 digit Holley codes are Year / Month / Week (Link Below)

Are you sure your "B" is not an "8"?
or 1965 / August / 4th week
What is the "List" number on your carburetor? (Holley Part Number)

Re: Carburetor Date Code
Paul,
That A 19 6 must be a casting date of the block which is Jan 19th 1966. What is the date on the engine stamp pad ? So you want a carb dated in Nov. or Dec. of 1965 would be ideal.
The 5 B 4 is really close Dec 4th week, but it should work OK. I would like to see 5 B 1 or 5 B 2.

"A" was used for Nov and "B" was for Dec.

Re: Carburetor Date Code
Engine build date has nothing to do with the carb date...........as engines were all built and test fired without the carb in place. Butane or similar was used for test firing. Carb was first installed at St Louis.
Ideally I would like the carb dated about 2-6 weeks prior to the CAR build date, based upon the car's VIN. NCRS allows six months prior to car build date, but that is excessive.
