      Peter,

I actually used a worm clamp for the one in the rear drums. However, the "fingers" are inside the frame for the one at the center crossover just behind the "equalizer" apparatus. You can't get in there with anything, so there must be a way?

The 63 service manual just says to remove the parking brake cable and install the new one when replacing. Quite useless.

Hi Patrick. I Was Thinking After The First Posting. Use A Deep 12 Point Socket With The Cable Pushed All The Way In. Another Idea A Piece Of Pipe

Patrick, You need to slide a piece of tubing through the frame to compress all the fingers at the same time.

Thin wall clear tubing? Or would rubber hose work?

            Thanks for the tip.

              We use aluminum conduit.

                  Maybe tiewire?

I recall I may have tried that on a similar cable before.

Right now the cable for the left side doesn't move forward or backward. That's good, but I can't think of a way to get a tiewire in there.
Sliding the conduit over it like a sheath may work well. I will have to get under the car to check it out, but Joe has done a lot more 63 work than me so I'll trust him on this one.

I used a small piece of electrical conduit as Joe Scafidi mentioned above it worked great. Slide it into the frame apply a little pressure and the fitting will pop off.

Conduit may be best. Looking at the AIM cable diagram I think it's likely rusted in the rearward hole. Can you wiggle it loose?

If you remove the forward grommet(#4 seal) I think it could come out towards front and put the conduit on there or try the tiewire if you don't have a pipe handy.

Or can the entire cable be pulled out from rear to front? I forget. I did this only once on ours many years ago but can't remember if that's possible.

I purchased a tool from Lisle tool #40750 that is made to remove park brake cables , there may be other brands of this tool KD , Vim , matco etc
a good auto parts store should have one

The Challenge is getting through the hole at the front of the frame. The clipped on area is at the rear of the frame tube but inside the tube and not exposed. So whatever you use has to be less than 3/4" diameter but about 6' to 8" long and then also be the proper inside diameter to compress the fingers.

Joe can the entire length be pulled out the front hole?
